Single Freezer Meals: Thanksgiving Leftovers

Thanksgiving LeftoversTurn your Thanksgiving dinner leftovers into single serving meals that can be frozen and reheated.  So many times I have put the leftovers in their own container in the refrigerator, only to throw them out a week later when they were not used up.  (This post contains affiliate links.  This means that if you purchase a product through a link we have here in the post, we may be compensated at no cost to you.)

Remember the term ‘TV dinners’?  Create your own!  There are so many types of containers these days that allow us to do just this and save the food for convenient heating and eating later.  Below are a few ideas to help you save the food you worked so hard to make and enjoy it later!

Tip of the Week: Benefits of a Food Steamer

Food SteamerHave you ever used a Food Steamer? I have used one for YEARS! Imagine my surprise when I found out last year that my best friends had not ever used them! I now have them hooked and I think you will be too!  This post contains affiliate links, see our disclaimer here.

There are several brands of food steamers available.  I recommend the ones that can be multi-stacked so you can cook a whole meal at once.  Here are just a few benefits that I have experienced:

  • It cooks fish up flaky and moist.  I simply put seasoning salt on it and that is it!
  • Vegetables cook up crispy and flavorful.  (Especially corn-on-the-cob!)
  • You can literally put your whole meal in the steamer, set it and forget it.

Such a healthy and easy way to cook a delicious meal!

Tip of the Week: Washable Refrigerator Shelf Liners

Washable Shelf LinersWashable Refrigerator Liners!  Who would have thought!  🙂 🙂

Have you ever heard of ‘Washable Refrigerator Shelf Liners’?  I hadn’t!  But I am sure glad I found them.  You can cut them to fit anywhere in your fridge, even the door shelves.  I am not a fan of wiping down the inside of the refrigerator, so this cuts that cleaning chore down by a lot.  Just pull these out and wash them and put them back.

Chop and Freeze Peppers and Onions!

We use green peppers, multi-colored peppers and onions in a lot of our recipes for dinner.  Even if the recipe doesn’t call for it, I usually add them if appropriate!

What I don’t like doing……………………chopping vegetables!  Just saying!

Peppers and Onions

So, when I get a harvest of peppers from my garden, my neighbor gives me onions from her garden, or either go on sale at the store, I spend a few minutes chopping them up at once. Then I freeze them and get out the needed amount for each recipe.  This one tip saves me a LOT of time when I am putting dinner together! It also keeps me from throwing away fresh vegetables if I don’t need the entire onion or pepper for one recipe (or letting them sit in the fridge until they go bad).

What do you do to help save time when making dinner?
