Choosing the wedding venue is one of the most important decisions to make as you start planning for a wedding. It is also one of the first decisions that needs to be made as the most popular venues book up quickly. The venue sets the tone for the entire wedding with its style, decor, and location.
My daughter’s wedding was in October at Ritzy Ranch in Bolivar, Missouri. It was a wonderful venue that exceeded our expectations in every way! It is a barn shaped building that is decorated with many shabby chic touches including chandeliers, chalkboards, and other rustic decor items. The decor really set the tone for our formal-meets-barn wedding! (This post main contain affiliate links. Two main considerations for choosing a wedding venue are:
- Is the ceremony going to be inside or outside?
- Will the reception be held at the same place as the wedding or offsite?
Is the ceremony going to be inside or outside? If outside, what is the plan for inclement weather? We were so blessed that Ritzy Ranch offered both options! The weather here in Missouri turned really cold the day of the wedding so we were not able to use the outside courtyard; however, the inside setting was absolutely beautiful!
As you can see, we set up the chairs to form an aisle. Ritzy Ranch provided all of the tables and chairs… including set up and tear down! They also included all of the linens and many options for centerpieces if they match your setting. Definitely ask the venue what is included with the rental fee… some include nothing or some provide a lot of different options. Another thing to ask is what period of time does your rental fee include? We were blessed to have the venue for two full days for decorating and adding our own personal touches as well as our rehearsal. Some venues rent by the day and some rent by the hour.
Here is another look at the setup of the tables. Ritzy Ranch provided everything except the red table runners… we rented those! They also included plates, cups, napkins, and forks as well as fruit infused water, coffee, tea, and lemonade! How wonderful! This made it so easy for us since we didn’t have to worry about those things!
Where will the reception be? This is another consideration as you are choosing the venue… will the ceremony and reception be at the same venue? Will guests leave and go to another location for the reception? We were able to use Ritzy Ranch for both the ceremony and the reception which made it very easy for our guests since many of them were from out of state. After the ceremony, we removed the chairs from the dance floor and had the perfect space for dancing and our guests.
Here is the wedding cake… Terri of Ritzy Ranch made the cake for us! We didn’t have to worry about it being transported or finding someone who would come there to set it up! Since she made our cake… she also served it to our guests. This was a huge help to us and one more detail we didn’t have to do! Isn’t it beautiful?
As you are looking to choose a wedding venue… make sure you ask lots of questions and be very clear on what you are getting when you rent the venue! We absolutely loved Ritzy Ranch and would not have changed anything about our experience!
