Christmas Treat Boxes – Re-Purposed!

Every year I make some kind of Christmas treats for my coworkers.  When it came time to work on these this year… I looked around and realized I had over 30 left over wedding favor boxes (see post here) that I had nothing to do with.  It seemed wasteful to just throw them away… so… I re-purposed them for Christmas!  Here’s what they looked like when I started with them.  (This post may contain affiliate links.  This means that if you purchase a product through a link we have here in the post, we may be compensated at no cost to you.)

 Assembling Treat Boxes

They were already assembled and had a round sticker in the middle with the bride and groom’s name and a sweet saying for the wedding.  I looked through all of my extra paper and found the red polka dot paper. I added a red polka dot square – approximately 2 1/4″ x 2 1/4″ turned like a diamond.  I then cut white paper into a 2″ x 2″square and stamped “Merry Christmas” on it and added it over the red polka dot!  No more stickers showing!  Here’s how they turned out:

I then put 3 or 4 home made peanut cluster in each bag, folded it in half and put it in each bag.  I will post the recipe for the peanut clusters later this week!  I then tied them shut with one piece of curling ribbon and added another ribbon just for fun!  Here’s how they turned out:

Multiple Uses!

You could use these a variety of ways:

  • Treat bags
  • Gift Card holders
  • Wrapping for a small gift

I purchased these from Hobby Lobby for the wedding so I didn’t have to spend any money on them (except for the peanut clusters!).  I used extra paper and ribbon I had on hand.   How could you re-purpose something you already have?

  1. I love to use hat style gift boxes to store my Christmas cookies every year! plus it frees up my other food storage. Which is a plus this time of year! 🙂
