Organize Your Home Office Closet

Organize Office Closet

A few years ago, one of my extra bedrooms was turned into a laundry/office and I love it.  Along with this change, the closet filled up with a lot of office supplies, crafts and other stuff until it got out of control!  I happened to find a large quality wire shelf unit still in the box out in the garage that was bought a few years back on sale.  I quickly took the measurements of the office closet and found that this nice shelving unit would fit!  I was so happy!  Not only would it get this big box OUT of the garage, but it would make my office closet more organized.  (This post may contain affiliate links.  This means that if you purchase a product through a link we have here in the post, we may be compensated at no cost to you.)

Before the Purge

So here it is, the chaotic mess that was my office closet.  This is the left side as you enter it.Chaotic Office Closet

Next, I pulled everything out of the closet so I could start going through it.  I tend to get overwhelmed if I try to go through and purge any other way.  So, out it came!

Purging and Organizing

I removed the wood shelf, bracket and rod and placed them to the side in case it ever got turned back into a regular bedroom closet.

My Sister and I had assembled the new shelf the night before so it was ready to go!  After a quick cleanup of the closet while it was empty, I moved the new shelf in and it fit as well as I had hoped!

New ShelfThis closet houses not only my home documents, but my workout equipment, crafts and books.  So, as you can see the bottom shelf houses my exercise ball perfectly!  My first thought was this shelf was all I needed in here.  However, I quickly realized that I would need to put one of the bookshelves back in – to the left.  This worked out nicely.

Next, I needed to go through filing…..a lot of filing…….too much filing!  I digress!  Once I had got through the majority of the filing and even craft supplies, I knew what I needed to keep, and could determine what plastic containers I needed to purchase for the cause!

The size of the closet makes it impossible for me to photograph all at once, which is annoying!  However, you can see by the last two photos posted, that it is much more organized.  I have a few more containers to fill and label, but, this is just about done!

Have you recently purged and reorganized a closet?  What did you use and how did you like the end result?  Would love to hear!
