Visiting The Pioneer Woman‘s Lodge was, to say the least, a highlight of my year! Yes, I can actually say I was giddy! I soaked in the whole experience and enjoyed every minute!
It was a beautiful August day for a girls’ day out road trip! Lynn and I headed to Pawhuska, Oklahoma to visit The Mercantile. The Mercantile is a deli, bakery, and wonderful shopping venue owned by Ladd and Ree Drummond, of the Pioneer Woman. They have transformed a huge old building on Main Street in Pawhuska. See Ree’s website (The Pioneer Woman) for the details of all of the work that they did to the building.
Ree and Ladd Drummond opened the Mercantile in October of 2016. The store area is spacious and is modeled after an old fashioned general store. You can shop directly from the shelves and cabinets filled with beautiful dishes, kitchen linens, and colorful accessories for the home. There are decorative pillows, lotions, and seasonal items as well. You don’t want to miss the clothing section which also has a great selection of children’s toys and gifts. I had a really hard time trying to decide between a red mixing bowl and the array of tiny red bowls and measuring cups!
Next on our agenda was lunch at the deli! We only waited in line for a short time; sometimes the lines can be very long! We were starving and everything looked amazing. We finally settled on sandwiches and hand cut potato chips. The flavored lemonades and teas were die for!
Next was the long anticipated trip to the bakery and coffee shop upstairs! This is a beautiful open area with lots of seating just inviting you to get something yummy, sit down, and stay awhile! For me, the main attraction was the cases with a wonderful array of pastries and desserts. There were lemon bars, homemade biscotti, and so many others…it was almost impossible to choose! I finally decided on a pecan sticky bun and it did not disappoint…as evidenced by the picture below..I couldn’t wait to take a bite and then I took the picture! It was amazing!
What a great day at The Mercantile! We shopped a lot, ate delicious food, and had a great time as you can tell by the picture below. However, our day wasn’t over yet…next we headed to The Lodge where the Pioneer Woman cooking show is filmed for the Food Network…more on this next week!!
